Thyroids Function Enhanced Blood Test

Are you experiencing symptoms of an underactive or overactive thyroid? Perhaps you have been diagnosed with a thyroid disorder, and you’d like an advanced test that will allow you to make informed choices to optimise your nutrition and thyroid health. With our most advanced thyroid function test, you can investigate several causes of thyroid-related symptoms by checking your thyroid hormones, thyroid antibodies, and related vitamins and minerals. The results will indicate whether your symptoms are related to a thyroid condition, an autoimmune condition, or low levels of vitamins and minerals. This test helps you understand whether any symptoms you are experiencing could be caused by an overactive or underactive thyroid. It includes 3 important thyroid-related hormones to help explain any symptoms you may have. These include free thyroxine (FT4) and the more biologically active free triiodothyronine (FT3) as well as thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH). The majority of thyroid disorders are caused by autoimmune conditions where your body’s immune system attacks the thyroid gland. This test measures your thyroid antibodies (thyroglobulin and thyroid peroxidase antibodies) to help you learn whether an autoimmune condition could be affecting your thyroid function. Our enhanced report includes relevant vitamins and minerals which support your thyroid function and can mimic the symptoms of an underactive thyroid if they are low. We have included tests for vitamin D, vitamin B12, folate (vitamin B9), and ferritin (a marker for iron storage). We also test an inflammation marker to help interpret your iron (ferritin) result and to give a picture of whether an autoimmune condition is causing inflammation in your body. Please take your test before 10am. Take this test when any symptoms of short-term illness have settled. You should take this test before you take any medication or vitamin/mineral supplements. Do not take biotin supplements for two days before this test, discuss this with your doctor if it is prescribed. Do not take vitamin B12 for two weeks prior to this test. If your B12 is prescribed ask your doctor whether to stop.
